Maureen

I met Maureen last year during my exhibition in Geneva. She happened to be shopping for a hat in the neighborhood near the gallery and noticed me crossing the street. Maureen and I looked at one another as if we knew each other and suddenly she announced my name.  I didn't know anyone in Switzerland so I was surprised that she knew who I was. It turns out that she had been following the blog for some time and read I would be coming to Geneva. It was a great coincidence that we met on the street like we did and I was happy to make a new friend. Maureen is in New York for a few months visiting her family. It was great to catch up  with her over lunch and a trip to Off Broadway Boutique.

Out West

Debra and I visited Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home, Taliesen West, on our trip to Phoenix. If you happen to be in the area, a side trip this magnificent residence is well worth it. Debra can especially related to how Wright and his team of architects used local desert rock in the construction of the various buildings. Her own outfit is a combination of things she has either made from recycled or household items or things that have been "upcycled" and gifted to her. Debra's statement necklace is  made up of a collection of bobbins and she crafted her wonderful hat from Viva paper towels.

Forever Cool

Linda is one of those women who has been cool forever. She has great taste, an incredible eye for design and always looks effortlessly chic in whatever she puts on.

A Modern Day Flapper

My friends and I often joke that we were born in the wrong era. We all seem to love vintage clothing, hunting for antique treasures and watching old movies. Growing up, I'd spend countless hours looking through my grandmother's old scrapbooks and listening to her stories. I developed a great appreciation for the style and elegance of 1920s, '30s, and '40s.

Dinah Earle collects clothing and accessories from the 1920s. When I saw her dressed in this gorgeous silver coat and stunning vintage dress I was immediately reminded of my grandma's old photos. I can't wait to return to Phoenix to see more of Dinah's incredible collection.

Kati

I have been having the best time in Phoenix vintage shopping and meeting the wonderful members of The Arizona Costume Institute. As soon as I arrived at the museum I was told  that I needed to meet a fashionable woman in her 80s named Kati.After my presentation and book signing at the Phoenix Art Museum I looked around to see if I could find anyone to photograph. As soon as the gorgeous lady above walked by me,  I knew she had to be Kati. I asked if I could take her photo was overjoyed when she told me that she had been moved by my presentation. She said that upon her coming out, her  mother looked her up and down and didn't approve of what she was wearing. She was so happy to hear about my grandparents allowing me the freedom to play in their closets and express myself through personal style. Kati didn't let her mother's disapproving glance stop her from dressing up and now in her 80s she is one of the most stylish and vibrant ladies I have ever seen. Doesn't she look marvelous in these knee high boots?!!!!

Quick post before I completely get well, the one, which I  forgot that exist, made two weeks ago.

Like Grandma, Like Granddaughter

Once again here is the gorgeous Lois Kinley and her equally stunning granddaughter Ashley modelling one of Lois' original designs. Lois' grandmother taught her how to sew at a young age and  since retiring she has had even more time to spend on her life long passion for fashion.
